What is your average turnaround time on a website you develop?

The average turnaround will vary from site to site. If the site requires extensive design and detailed content with frequent consultation, it will take longer than a basic site with only a few pages. Smaller scale websites can be developed within a few weeks, while larger scale websites may take a month or longer. If a prospective client has a specific deadline, we will make sure your project is complete by the proposed date!

Does Athlete Web Services develop team web sites? I am on a team and we do not have a site. I think it would be a great thing to have for the fans.

I noticed you do not have set pricing on your site. Why is that?

Every client’s needs are different and no site will be the same. That is why we take a look at the specific aspects that are involved in every site with design, development, content, hosting, maintenance, management and marketing options. One person may want a simple, two page information site, and the next person may want a 200 page, multi-level site with many applications. We construct package quotes on a case-by-case basis to assure that we meet client needs. If you would like a free quote, you can fill out an online quote form or contact us at quotes@athletewebservices.com.

Will I be the main (or only) point of contact through my site or are there services where you take care of visitor/fan interaction and communication?

AWS offers services that will take the headaches and time-consumption away from an athlete’s busy schedule. The athlete will decide how much interaction and contribution he or she would like to make to the site, and the AWS team will take care of the rest! We understand that some athletes would like full control of their site. If this is the case, no problem. AWS will help show you how to make interaction and site management easy on you.

How do I know if my domain name is already registered? If my first choice is already registered, what are acceptable domain name variations for a quality web site?

You can check domain names at any registrar on the internet. Many top name athlete domains are already registered, but most often by people whose intentions are only to sell the name in hopes for a high payout. This is referred to as cyber-squatting and registering a name in bad faith. AWS is a strong opponent of this practice and will help an athlete acquire a cyber-squatted name with the aid of our legal team, if so desired.

If a name is already taken, an acceptable alternative could be a nickname possibly in regards to your achievements or style of play (e.g. 3XMVP.com). You can also use your name followed by your number or position (e.g. YourName24.com or YourNameQB.com). You may also use .net and .org as a domain extension (keeping in mind .org is most commonly used for non-profit organizations). AWS will be glad to do the research for you and offer numerous examples, with the understanding that the domain name to be registered is ultimately up to you! If you wish for AWS to help you find, register and reserve a good domain name, feel free to fill out our convenient Domain Name Inquiry form or proceed to our contact us page.

If somebody has registered a domain that contains my first and last name (e.g. myname.com), do I have any legal rights in retrieving it? If so, would Athlete Web Services be able to help me do so?

Many times, domain name speculators or cyber-squatters register names in hopes that someone will pay them top dollar to acquire the name, with never any intentions do develop the site in good faith and put it to good use. There are laws governing this practice. AWS and our legal council work hand-in-hand with the athlete and representatives to acquire the rights of the domain if used illegally. If you feel you have been cyber-squatted, please contact us immediately to see what rights you have and what steps can be taken to retrieve the name.

I am a very busy person, and don't have a lot of free time. How much time would I have to dedicate to my own website project - from the initial consultation stage through the implementation and maintenance/management stage?

We understand that most athletes have an extremely demanding schedule. You can let us know how much say you would like in the project and how much time you would like to put in. The AWS team of designers and developers are extremely creative and have experience in completing projects in a timely manner. You won’t be disappointed with the results – we guarantee it!
